Sofie was very helpful in helping me through the painful process of divorce. After our initial meeting she answered all my subsequent questions promptly and assisted me with filling in and checking quite complex forms. I would use K J Smith for further work if needed.

I am deeply disappointed with the service provided by Kate Evans at KJ Smith Solicitors and would strongly advise avoiding the Oxford branch altogether. Even in urgent situations, there are far better solicitors available locally.
Her case management is non-existent. Her legal knowledge appears largely theoretical, with no meaningful engagement or ability — or willingness — to apply it to the realities of a complex case. She is comfortable producing lengthy but basic emails at £260 + VAT per hour, yet that is essentially all that is offered.
She charged £2,500 to read a court bundle and answer six questions in writing. However, after the initial consultation, I was never offered another in-person meeting, solely because I had not signed a full retainer. Unless you commit thousands more upfront, meaningful engagement appears to be off the table.
To be clear, I can read, write, complete court forms, and conduct legal research myself. What I was paying for was professional guidance, strategic case management, and experienced direction. Instead, I received generic written responses, no discussion, no practical advice, and no sense of ownership of the case.
Overall, the service provided barely qualifies as a professional service at all. With sufficient time, online resources, and the support of AI, the same level of information can be obtained independently. I awarded two stars solely for the effort of drafting lengthy emails. Beyond that, I received no significant value, no support, and no professional engagement.

I initially saw Sofie Corbin for a free consultation, which I found very helpful.
I have now been a client of hers for nearly 2 years.
Sofie has always been very approachable and kind and nothing is ever too much trouble.
She is always happy to explain and clarify anything that I am unsure of.
I would highly recommend her.

Sofie is an expert at providing insightful, consultative guidance when you need it the most. She does so in a friendly, assertive and empathetic manner and will remind you her role is to take the emotion out of the situation and see clearly on your behalf - which is reassuring when you most need it.
She will work with you to understand your needs, your situation and work with you in collaboration to define the best, most realistic strategy to take the most effective steps forward. She will then, if needed, construct the best team to work on the specifics whilst Sofie keeps a pulse on the overall big picture for you.
I have certainly felt extremely well looked after, well educated and most importantly, correct and legally sound in our approach and overall strategy - which is all credit to Sofie and I thank her for the guidance at a challenging time in my life.
