Requested initial advice from a solicitor and arranged appointment. I was called an hour later than the appointment time from an untrained customer contact adviser. Complete waste of time.

The worst of three different family law firms I appointed for my complex case. They are not competent with matters that are any more than standard and straightforward. Clearly visible that the Solicitor appointed was inexperienced in the specific matters I required, yet proceeded to try and over inflate her knowledge. Biased from the start and ultimately I overpaid because her advice on how to progress the matters was overkill. Upon court hearing, judge ruled in my favour within a quick 30min hearing and all the other evidence gathering I had been charged for (against my desire) was not needed and wasn’t even reviewed by the judge.
These people just charge for excessive amounts of admin when courts are too busy and do not require the level of detail clients are told to collate.

There is lots of common misconception and false information when it comes to protecting your assets when relationships turn sour. At this time, you need a good listener who shows empathy and compassion but most importantly has a wealth of knowledge and experience, so that you feel comfortable discussing your situation.
