I'm staggered by some of the negative reviews here. I use David and his team regularly for my work. They are simply brilliant. Twice this year, we have exchanged within 2 weeks. They are responsive and quick to deal with all matters. I really don't need to look elsewhere and would thoroughly recommend David Willis.

If there was a no star rating I could give I would do so. Bad communication and charges are astronomical any phone call or letter recapping on the phone call you're charged for. Avoid the property dept and the will dept. We went to a top legal firm in central London with a string of awards who are charging us less than half what Knights were estimating. Received an appalling service all through my mother's distribution of estate and transfer of property. In my view I would advise anyone reading this to avoid them at all costs.

We came to you with a legal case regarding a clear and unequivocal false and misleading application for Listed Building Consent, that our local authority has refused to enforce against.
Without telling us, it now appears that it was changed into a civil planning matter. Had damp been the only issue, you should have been able to advise without the help and cost of a barrister.

After the Teams meeting, Oliver Clawson told my husband over the phone that; ' We have to be led by our legal counsel, if you are going to go to the CPS with this, we will have to stop taking money off you'. As we had never mentioned the CPS, it was clear that you knew this and should have either helped us to do so, or passed it to your criminal law department. A crime against a Listed Building is a crime against the State, not a civil matter. We are now dealing with Advocates of the Higher Courts, who are preparing a report of the CPS.

You did not tell us that the barrister you engaged only dealt with civil matters, and was unable to advise on a case of fraud. She also did not answer the questions posed by Oliver Clawson. In the Briefing Note to Counsel, you should have asked her to consider Section 26j and Section 9 of the Planning (Listed Building and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 '. Under Section 26j it is a criminal offence to provide false or misleading information or to withhold material information to deceive, when applying for Listed Building Consent. Under Section 9, it is a criminal offence to carry out unauthorised works on a Listed Building. We now understand it is a Strict Liability offence.
We were very stressed and trusted you to advise us appropriately.

During the Teams meeting, my husband kept saying to the barrister that the applications were fraudulent and she eventually admitted she could not deal with fraud. After the meeting, I witnessed you grab my husband by the arm and say 'forget the fraud, don't do that to them. Isn't it enough to get them to pay for the damp.' You then accused my husband of being more concerned with the fraud then the damp.

You did not send us written information after the meeting, and told me that you received nothing from the barrister, when I asked in July. However, I found out from Kings Chambers, that you had received a report from her last November.

Now we have all the facts, we are forced to take this matter to the Ombudsman and SRA. You misled us after assuring us you could help. At no point did you say you could only advise on the damp.

We want our money back.

I contacted Knights Solicitors for advice regarding a commercial dispute. Although they were unable to take on my case due to the small claims process, Lyssa still took the time to review my situation and provide clear, honest and professional guidance.

I truly appreciated her kindness, respect and integrity, it’s rare to find a solicitor who assists you so genuinely even when there’s no formal instruction.
Highly recommended, and my sincere thanks to Lyssa for her professionalism and empathy.

I recently worked with Knights PLC on a high-value residential transaction and found the experience extremely disappointing. Despite being presented with clear expert evidence and formal regulatory guidance, the legal team maintained positions that were inconsistent with published law, ultimately leading to the collapse of the deal. Their approach came across as overly cautious, resistant to facts, and lacking commercial awareness. If you’re looking for pragmatic, evidence-based legal support, I’d advise caution before engaging this firm.
