RAMSDENS SOLICITORS LLP

I was not a client but when the buyer of my property, someone in the estate agency industry, instructed Ramsdens solicitors to manage their purchase I thought they were going to provide an exceptional service. How wrong I was, they were a nightmare from start to finish. Despite having a named solicitor on our Memoradum of Sale the buyers file was passed around for months with no one taking any responsibility for it. This resulted in my solicitors having to provide repeated responses to an ever increasing number of queries that no one took any responsibility for. Ramsdens lost documents requiring them to be resent and it took days for them to even acknowledge emails they were sent never mind respond to the information they were sent. Frequently my estate agent, my solicitor and the buyer were unable to contact Ramsdens and despite me highlighting I was on the verge of losing my onward purchase and the chain collapsing there was no sense of urgency or prioritisation of the sale. It finally culminated with both parties discussing exchange taking place on the Friday of a week seven months later only to be told on the Thursday by Ramsdens that the solicitor now dealing with the purchase was on annual leave on the Friday and there was no one else that could deal with the exchange. Given the size of Ramsdens I found this highly improbable and it would appear even the buyer had no influence on this situation. Exchange finally took place a week later when the estate agent acted as mediator and instructed both solicitors to stop the emails and talk to each other on the phone in order to overcome the impasse that had developed. My solicitor was again unable to contact Ramsdens due to a broken phone and had to wait for Ramsdens to contact them. I would not recommend the use of these solicitors and if your buyer is using them I would ask them to change solicitors!

Horrible customer service! I asked for a quotation for an auction conveyancing , I was agreed with the quotation and had the mortgage offer and I gave this solicitor details to my lender, when I wanted to instruct them they took one week to send the legal pack and once I started to fill the information the called me to say the quotation wasn't right and they didn't know if they could take this matter! what a joke! when in an auction you don't have time to waste!!! Time wasters!

The york team are absolutely fantastic. They dealt with my Uncle's estate so well that I trusted them with the conveyancing of my subsequent property purchase. Once again they pass with flying colours; having been in contact with other solicitors before I can confidently recommend Ramsdens as a truly professional outfit.
