They are difficult to contact and hardly ever get back to returning your calls.

We used Graeme John for both the purchase and subsequent sale of a property. The purchase process was much smoother than the sale process (probably due to the additional time pressure we placed on the process). However, the sale process was very prolonged and part of this delay (and significant additional costs incurred) has to be attributed to Graeme John. Documents did not appear to have been forwarded for a significant amount of time (multiple weeks) and only when we chased for them to be processed.

We were constantly chasing for updates (phone calls / emails multiple times a day which were generally not acknowledged or responded to). We were then asked to follow up with our finance company to chase them for a redemption figure directly when we were paying for the solicitors to do this. This lack of a redemption figure was only flagged late in the process when, again, we chased for an update. I question whether the sale would have gone through at all if we hadn't have managed it.

In addition, our personal information (including details of our financial situation) were incorrectly forwarded on to an email distribution list of completely unconnected individuals. One of the individuals contacted me directly off the back of the email and I ended up having a long phone conversation with them regarding the sale when it turned out they had absolutely no role in the chain. When your personal details are sent to a group of people by your solicitor you obviously assume this has been done for a reason. We received absolutely no recognition or apology for this breach of confidentiality.

Luke was our solicitor while buying our new build house and was amazing - he was responsive, dedicated, and honest. And he was really helpful if ever there was any part of the process we were unsure of, and he worked hard to push the developers' solicitors when there were delays on their end. Couldn't recommend more!
