I would strongly advise anyone considering Duncan Lewis Solicitors to think very carefully before instructing them.
My experience was extremely concerning, particularly given the seriousness of the criminal matter I was facing. At a critical stage in proceedings, I was left without proper support, communication was poor, and key documents were submitted without my approval.
Draft representations provided to me by Eldemina appeared to contain content that did not relate properly to my case and gave the clear impression of being reused or copied from another matter. Basic errors, including incorrect references and descriptions, were present — issues which should have been identified and corrected before anything was sent or relied upon.
Despite raising these concerns, the matter was handled under time pressure and submitted without properly ensuring I was satisfied with the content.
Most concerning of all was the position at court. I was left effectively unrepresented at a critical stage, with my solicitor contributing little to no advocacy, leaving me in the position of having to attempt to speak for myself in circumstances where I should have been professionally represented.
This placed me under significant and unnecessary stress and has had a serious impact on my confidence in the legal process.
Following a formal complaint, the firm acknowledged failings and offered compensation, which in itself speaks volumes. However, the level of service I received fell well below what should reasonably be expected, particularly in criminal proceedings where the consequences are serious.
To be clear, this is not about dissatisfaction with an outcome — it is about the standard of service, lack of preparation, and failure to properly represent a client at a crucial time.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend this firm.

I contacted Duncan Lewis Solicitors with a request for legal assistance and received a call to discuss my needs. I spent about 10 minutes explaining my case and stated that I required help with a legal aid application. After this, the representative informed me that they could not assist with my matter due to a lack of available resources.

When I asked if this decision was linked to the fact that it involved a legal aid application, the representative said no, reiterating that they simply didn’t have the resources. While I appreciate the follow-up call, this raised concerns about honesty, as the same could have been stated upfront before I spent time explaining my case.

So we bring a high value case to this solicitor firm, and you would expect them to treat you like a high value customer. But it was the complete opposite. From the moment we walked in through the door, the shocking mannerism encountered at the front desk, keeping us waiting for half an hour in the waiting room because the solicitor got the appointment time wrong, to how the so-called Solicitor (Anthony Okumah) handled the case. He spent over 2 weeks looking through the paperwork to decide if he wants to take it on or not. I can guarantee he didn't even look at any of the paperwork provided. We spoke to dozens of other solicitors about this case and they are all chasing us to take on this case. What was his excuse for the delay? He said that he's reviewing the paperwork for free! If we had paid him to review the paperwork, he would have done it in 2-3 days. Those were his exact words. So people, please stay away from this company if you're looking for a professional, efficient, quality service, because you will definitely NOT find it here.
