ALSTERS KELLEY SOLICITORS LTD

Webhave used AK about 8 years ago to buy our first home and the person handling our case was incredible. Now, we are at the start of an employment redundancy journey, AK were highlighted by the employer as a firm that specialises in this, so was a no brainer to approach as our top choice. Called the coventry branch this morning and was transferred to the employment law dept, unfortunately the case handlers were busy so we were offered a call back the same day.

At the end of the day, looking for an update, we called the same number again only to be transferred to what seemed to be a lady at the head office? After a frustrating argument with her about what number we used to dial we were eventually able to state what had happened this morning and that we were waiting for a call back. Only to then be told (in an extremely rude manner) that they dont work on employment law and refused to hear anything else. I just couldnt belive it!

Left an incredibly bitter taste im afraid, the attitude of someone representing the business like that must be losing so much custom

Absolutely terrible service in the conveyancing team. Shame we cannot leave a 0 star for this solicitors. They do not response to calls or emails and take weeks to reply when they finally do. They are dishonest to customers and other solicitors for example not replying to an enquiry due to ‘not having a document’ which was sent to the solicitor 5 times. Also ‘not receiving signed contracts in the post’ which was signed in person in their branch and then trying to charge an admin fee to resign it online! I absolutely would not recommend this solicitors they are not worth a penny of their fees when you come to buying or selling a house you will receive a much better service elsewhere

Overall a mixed experience using Alsters Kelley. We decided to use these solicitors for conveyancing during our house purchase and to sell our own house. Sometimes communication was good, however there was many times we had to chase 2/3 times before receiving a response. The search results were back for 2-3 weeks before we received them, we had to chase to receive these. We also received an email with a moving date suggestion, with our solicitor saying they could aim to exchange and complete on that date, and to arrange a quote for moving companies/make arrangements. We did this and contacted Alsters Kelley in the lead up to this date, but didn't receive any communication until after the date had passed.

We were given our final bill to pay before completion, and we immediately paid this. However on our exchange/completion day, having already loaded the van and moved all our stuff out, we got an email telling us they had calculated the amount wrong and we needed to send another £1200 urgently! I assume had we not sent this, or if there was any delays, we would not have been able to complete on that day, which would've been no fault of our own.

When we did speak to our solicitor we found them to be helpful and polite; I'm not sure whether the majority of the issues we experienced were perhaps down to a heavy workload.

It's disappointing that our experience differed so much from the many good reviews on here, but based on our experience we would not recommend Alsters Kelley and wouldn't use the company again.

I was blown away with how I was made to feel at ease. Paige was very informative and shown she had great knowledge. I was kept informed even if there was nothing to report. Which gave me confidence knowing I hadn't been forgotten. Paige was very professional and a credit to Alsters Kelley
