I was extremely disappointed with the level of service I received. Communication throughout the matter was inconsistent and often inadequate, and I regularly had to chase for even the most basic updates or clarification. Information was rarely provided proactively, and I was frequently left uncertain about the status of my case. Responses were often delayed, making it difficult to understand what progress was being made or what the next steps were supposed to be.
Deadlines, expectations, and key aspects of the process were not clearly explained, which resulted in unnecessary confusion and avoidable stress. I did not feel properly guided or supported, and there was a noticeable lack of reassurance or proactive advice when issues or concerns arose. At no point did I feel confident that my matter was being handled with care or attention.
In addition to this, I found the service to be overpriced for the level of support and communication provided. Given the fees charged, I expected a far higher standard of professionalism, responsiveness, and client care. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I found Leah White’s approach to be unprofessional, particularly in terms of communication, organisation, and overall handling of the matter.
The Boys and Maughan website states that Leah is “known for her approachable and friendly manner, builds strong relationships with her clients, and prioritises clear communication throughout the conveyancing process,” and that she is “frequently praised for her professionalism and dedication.” In my experience, she was everything but this.
Overall, the experience was frustrating and far more stressful than it needed to be. The service did not represent value for money and fell short of the professional standards I reasonably expected.

After missing out on two properties and using another solicitors I decided to use Boys & Maughan after a recommendation from my daughter
The service we have received has been absolutely first class and Hannah Kemp who dealt with us has been second to none
This process has been seamless and we have been kept in the loop every step of the way

Was recommended to use Christine @ Boys & Maughan by my mortgage advisor Robin, part of Davies Financial Planning.
I am very happy to say I was pleased with the overall service provided, with any queries being answered very quickly, usually within the hour.
Considering we were told that the average time to completion was 16-20 weeks upon first starting our property search, we managed to apply, exchange and complete in just under 9 weeks!
Can't thank Christine, Carol and Elaine enough for their speedy and professional service.
Highly recommended.

What on earth has happened to this once fabulous company? My recent house sale and purchase was made so much more stressful because of bad management. 5 different solicitors/conveyancers dealt with my case over a 4 month period due to holidays/sickness. I felt at times that staff were so overworked they weren’t coping at all. E mails were ignored, everything had to be explained over and over and still things didn’t get processed. I had to chase them daily in the end to find out what had or had not been done. It was a very stressful unpleasant experience and I shall never use or recommend them again.

Overall the experience was good but I did have to chase a couple of times to get a response. I appreciate that with stamp duty increases etc and everyone trying to move at once put a lot of pressure on conveyancing firms but when I had to chase several times for someone to acknowledge me on more than one occasion, or when my estate agent seemed to know more than my solicitor, it did become a little frustrating. However, overall the experience was good and I am still using them for my purchase. They are thorough which is a very good thing and can argue on your behalf to get what you need to get. So yes I would recommend them as a conveyancing solicitor firm.
