Firms of solicitors are of course made of the people that work in them. So, to taint the company would be unfair.
However, we had the misfortune of dealing with Damian Carter and Jessica Kraja of the Manchester office for a number of years, whilst he represented Andy Pilley; he's now in prison serving a 13-year stretch for fraud - Google what he did.
Damian Carter was involved in the concealment of evidence, data breaches and generally misleading the court. Check out slapp dot blog for more information.
Reports have been made to their Data Controller and Head of Regulation, but I am afraid, there does seem to be more of an interest covering up Damian Carter's misconduct and embarrassment of Weightmans representing Pilley - rather than dealing with the legitimate concerns raised.
Ultimately, Carter and Kraja will be taken to task through Contempt proceedings, and the SRA and ICO have been made aware.
P.S as for cost management.......the claim I was involved in started with estimated legal costs of £500K, and finished up at £1.6M!!

I was quoted £2,000 to £3,000 for a divorce that ultimate
Y cost me £20,000. The billing was not itemised just a list of hours and charges. The divorce agreement took several years and the agreement I got was ambiguous and has left me in permanent dispute about the interpretation of the wording. Expensive, billing shrouded in mystery and bad advice. Do not work with the Manchester office, awful experience.
