I opted to use Walters and Barbary for the conveyancing of a house purchase, a decision I would later come to regret.
The quote from Walters and Barbary was £350 more expensive than a bigger, nationwide solicitors quote, however I thought I would be getting local expertise and personal service. This was not the case.

Although initially the process was smooth it soon deviated from it's course. Process, initially estimated at 6-8 weeks, due to being a first time buyer of a chain free sale, took much much longer than this. The process dragged out so long, without assurance to the seller that the sale was progressing.

I had to visit the office on 4 separate occasions to collect/sign paperwork. These trips would not have been necessary if proceedings were dealt with in a timely manner.

Finally, I can only assume my help-to-buy ISA was completely forgotten about as it was not processed when it should have been. Resulting in frantic phone calls to my bank to be able to process the account closure as fast as possible to allow the sale to go through. The full fee for processing my ISA was still charged by Walters and Barbary.

I cannot in good faith recommend Walters and Barbary for any conveyancing work.

EDIT 1: 3 weeks have passed since Walters and Barbary responded to this review. They have in fact not contacted me to discuss this. Possibly another indication as to their poor organisational skills.

EDIT 2: 6 weeks after this review was published I have finally received a letter from Walters & Barbary. Each point of concern I have raised they have dismissed with a common theme of stating there is nothing on the file to suggest/correlate my points of concern. This is unsurprising and is consistent with my complaint in regards to their lack of attention to detail.

The cherry on top: The letter has my address incorrectly printed. Top work from a conveyancing solicitor...

EDIT 3: More correspondence from Walters and Barbary regarding my Land Registry document. And once again they have made a mistake in my address. Absolutely shocking, but no longer surprising.
