As an update to the firms response, my review is certainly not unfair. I was told I did not have a weak case. I have copious amounts of documentary evidence that support my review of which I am happy to share with others. There was no challenge Of any Will, and they did not advise me either way. In fact, in parallel proceedings they refuse to help me unless I paid £430 an hour plus VAT (outside of their scam no win no fee CFA), for something that they even agreed I was being treated with gross unfairness by a ruthless firm of solicitors on the other side, set out to take advantage. Suddenly, however, they developed a perhaps, arguably, a too familiar relationship with the other side solicitors and began to screw me over with fees left right and centre; to the degree, they were more than happy for the other side to do as they wished. And they did. Did they come to some kind of arrangement with the other side I wasn’t made aware of? No transparency of fees, amounting to a sudden £80/90k, with a most arrogant refusal to produce a breakdown, or a final invoice. Just to pay up and shut up attitude. Their so so-called “advice” on their fees was to take them to court and they would pursue me for their further exp fees should the judge not reduce their fees by 20% or more.! My advice is don’t touch these people with a bargepole. I wish I had read the other reviews that share similar experiences before I had instructed them. They made an already acute emotional rollercoaster far far worse just to line their own pocket and tread on my emotions and pocket. They know that I am diagnosed with complex PTSD and just did not give a damn what they did! Now, despite saying I would have achieved more if I had followed their advice (which they did not provide, and agreed with me multiple times I was being treated appallingly through no fault of my own), it is clear to me. They are made an agreement with the other side at mediation, with the support of their own best friend selected Barrister who I was told I had no choice but to use, to pay off a cost order at my agreement if I withdrew my appeal. That is not what was explained to me, and nor what I would ever have agreed to. They have cost me a further £37,000 on top of non transparent fees (some of which I can show they didn’t do the work for too!). So, I believe it is understandable why I would never trust this firm, and ask what other fees they have hiked up for work they’ve barely looked at, or indeed not carried out at all, and the partner concerned CH, refuses to communicate with me unless I pay him a further £430 per hour plus success fee +20% VAT bringing it to over £800 an hour to even deal with, shall we say, this further “discrepancy”. It’s all about bullying and money. No morals in sight. My experience is they mislead, and they simply pre-meditate what loopholes they can jump through so you have nowhere to turn when they have screwed you over in contentious probate matters of all things! I asked them to walk away from the case as they were beyond hopeless, (nothing to do with Merritt just plain awful people), and misled me while failing to meet deadline after deadline! They didn’t accept my invitation to drop this case so I could use competent and honest lawyers. I wish they had I really do. I had wanted to walk away from this shambles of a firm long long ago, but I was tied into the scam of a CFA (no win:no fee). If you want to keep your pocket and your sanity intact, stay far away from these people.
