REES WOOD TERRY LIMITED

I don’t know where to start with this solicitor. I got my mortgage in April 2022 and chose Rees Woods and Terry for conveyancing as their initial charge was £850 plus search fee. Bethan was handling my case, I provided all required documents, ID and deposit payment straight away. I receive an email from the bank few months later that my mortgage offer expires on the 30th of August 2022. The case was still open with the solicitors, and they still have not completed the paperwork, the bank extended the offer till 30th of September 2022. I still have not received any update from Bethan since July 2022. Just 1 WEEK before the mortgage expires Bethan wanted few documents signed, we managed to get all required document signed and sent to Bethan on time but she failed to submit the file on time, and the offer expired.
I had a phone conversation with Bethan if she needed any document signed/ submitted from us to complete the case, as I will need to apply for a new mortgage. She advised the case is ready and just needs to be submitted.
Managed to get a new mortgage deal double the interest rate (due to Liz Truss mini budget) end of October 2022 and my financial advisors forwarded all required documents to Rees Woods and Terry. I chased Bethan mid-November for an update if she has submitted the report to the bank to complete the purchase of the property. She advised report does not get ready in 2 weeks and they need more time. My understanding was the report was ready and they just needed to submit it. She became arrogant and said if I’m not happy with the service I could go with another firm. As the case was coming to an end I decided to stay with Rees Woods and Terry.
Financial advisors emailed me in January 2023 saying the new mortgage offer expires on the 14th of February 2023 and the case needed to be submitted to the bank before the offer expires. I have been chasing Rees Woods and Terry and not getting any where with them. Again, Bethan emails me 1 WEEK before the mortgage offer expires for document that needed to be signed by my partner and certified ID for myself and my partner, which we submitted on time. Rees Woods and Terry also sent another bill for £890 which was paid straight away. Again, Bethan failed to submit the report to the bank on time, and we lost the mortgage offer.
Bethan worked on my case for 10 MONTHS and still failed to submit the report to the bank twice. Either Bethan is an incompetent solicitor or she’s racist who doesn’t want to see an Asian person buying an expensive house.
Dealing with Rees Wood and Terry has been a very stressful period for me sleepless night, not eating and going through depression at one stage. After 10 MONTHS and back to square one they have the audacity to charge me nearly £2,000 when I closed the case with them, which seems like a con to me. Hope they can use this money to give their solicitors some training on conveyancing. Unless you have spare money to waste or a patient of a saint I would NEVER recommend this frim to anyone.
I managed to get a 3rd mortgage offer in April 2023 and will be took my business to a different solicitor firm. The sale was completed with in 4 weeks, and the property was transferred to me. Luckly I was buying the property from a family member otherwise I would have never been able to buy it if I still used Rees Wood and Terry.

I found this firm to be extremely helpful, efficient and friendly. I wanted to update my will and was helped by Clair. She was really approachable, knowledgeable and she raised a few things I needed to be aware of which I was grateful.

Bethan has just finalised the sale of my late relative’s house. Due to unexpected boundary issues the process became complicated. However, her professionalism, knowledge and persistence meant the matter was successfully concluded.
I would also like to add that all my calls to Rees Wood Terry Solicitors were answered promptly and politely.
I’d have no hesitation in using them again should the need arise.

Bethan Gwyther is phenomenal. I dealt with Beth during my attempted flat purchase. Bethan kept me up to date throughout the process and helped deal with some very difficult vendors. Bethan was extremely thorough and identified issues with the flat which needed resolving and had been missed during previous sales. Bethan had my best interests are heart throughout and made a long and stressful process far more bearable.

We were lucky enough to have Bethan Gwyther as our conveyancer when we moved house recently, dealing with both our sale and purchase. It was a lengthy and stressful process due to issues elsewhere in the chain, and we honestly wouldn’t have got to the point of completion without Bethan’s efficiency, advice, support and good humour. She went over and above at all times and made everything a lot easier than it could have been. I cannot recommend Bethan highly enough and wouldn’t hesitate to instruct her again (albeit that we don’t plan to move again for a looooong time!).
