Rainscourt are a really professional and experienced legal team.
All the way through my recent dealings with Katie I felt in control of the process, I knew what was happening, what was needed and what was next. At the start of the engagement Katie really took the time to understand my position and what I needed to get to an outcome.
When you deal with personal things you need someone who is going to give you honest straight advice, and who is experienced enough to highlight some problems with what you want. Katie, and the team, do this in a straight forward and practical manner, never over promising and always delivering to the timeline we laid out. Even when I made mistakes with paperwork, or confused things, Katie took the time to understand and then advise on how to resolve the issue.
It’s really important to understand this isn’t a cheap online solicitors firm that has rooms of faceless juniors. Rainscourt is a highly experienced and competent company to deal with. You’re going to get the highest level of support and pay higher rates for that, but the saving will come back to you in the long run. Rates and costs are clear in the initial estimates and throughout the process. I think Katie saved me £000s, reduced disruption/ stress for my family and ultimately allowed everyone to move on sooner.
I can’t recommend Rainscourt enough to people.

I approached this firm at a time when I was extremely vulnerable and needed clear, transparent support. I am autistic, and I specifically chose this lawyer because she said she specialised in cases like mine and i had found her via the National Autistic Society Database of services.
I paid £490 for an initial consultation on 29 October 2025. The meeting itself was helpful and I felt reasonably satisfied, although I did notice the rate was higher than what I had seen elsewhere.
On 3 November at 15:33, after receiving the consultation summary and a fixed-fee quote for the divorce, I paid £1,602 for them to file the divorce on my behalf. However, at 15:45 I received the full terms and conditions, and in the small print I saw an hourly rate of £744. This is significantly higher than many senior lawyers in London, and I personally did not feel it was justified. It also made me question the clarity and transparency of the information I had been given up to that point.
I immediately felt uncomfortable and asked for a refund. The lawyer called me the next day to discuss it, but I decided to firmly stick with my request. I had not signed the terms, and the payment was later refunded. I ended up filing my own divorce, which took less than an hour.
Overall, my experience left me feeling that the process was not as transparent as I expected, especially given my needs and the trust I had placed in someone who claimed to specialise in supporting clients like me. I would recommend that anyone considering this firm carefully review all terms and ask very clear questions about fees before proceeding.

Rainscourt Family Law Solicitors exploited me at the lowest point in my life. They promised I could get my children back home by applying for a prohibited steps order, which was never realistically possible. Before the first hearing even happened, they took £14,250 from me in just over a week.
At the start, they made me fill out a detailed financial questionnaire. I had never hired a solicitor before and thought it was standard. Later I realised it was just a way to see exactly how much money they could get from me and how fast. They demanded a £6,000 retainer, which disappeared in days.
Katie Rainscourt kept me on the phone for over an hour talking about irrelevant things. At the time, I felt grateful someone was being kind to me when I was desperate and alone. That single call cost me over £1,000.
They forced me to use a separate email portal so I could not get emails directly. I thought it was for confidentiality but now I see it was so they could control the paper trail and stop me from exposing what they were doing. I cannot even access those emails now, which included invoices, ultimatums and messages making me feel like I cared more about money than my children.
They kept court letters and letters from the other side and dumped them on me all at once. One letter showed the hearing had been moved from my local court to a court in West London. I panicked and called Katie, but my calls went to voicemail. Then her colleague called and told me I had to pay another £8,000 just to speak to her. In my desperation, I paid. Later I saw they had charged over £600 just for me leaving six voicemails because they billed in minimum blocks of six minutes.
They even charged £200 for an AML check done by a solicitor charging over £500 an hour.
They preyed on my desperation, made empty promises and drained my savings while making me feel grateful to them. In the end, I was left financially broken, emotionally wrecked and realised I had another battle on now to take them to the SRA.

After spending over £20K with previous solicitors over eight years to attempt to get to a Final Financial Order and Decree Absolute, which just resulted in lengthy and costly exchange of letters with no progress forward. It really felt like a licence to print money for every call, email or letter.
I was then recommended the services of Katie at Rainscourt Family Law Solicitors by a trusted colleague. An online discussion to ascertain facts started in November 2024 and swift action secured a court date for early February 2025. All documentation, papers etc were completed and a Final Financial Order granted in my favour on 6th February, with Decree Absolute just this week on 5th March 2025.
Katie was professional, straightforward, efficient - I couldn't have done it without her cool calm approach, keeping me informed all the way. I have no hesitation in recommending her services.
She gets the job done.

My experience with Katie was excellent. She gave me a an honest assessment of my case, highlighting the risks as well as what we could do to mitigate these. She was very responsive, answering my questions quickly and progressing my case as swiftly as the courts would allow. She was also very supportive from a personal point of view.
The outcome was better than I could have imagined and she has helped me achieve a clean break from my ex-wife.
