We purchased a property and used Martin Tolhurst 3 years ago and had a terrible experience so was very reluctant to use this time round but very glad we did.
Our solicitor Cally and her assistant Richard was absolutely amazing, any questions or emails were answered by Cally when in office and when out Richard was always on hand to answer questions especially towards the end Richard was amazing chasing our buyers solicitors and keeping us up to date. Thank you for making the selling and buying process less stressful!

I recently used Martin Tolhurst for a recent sale & purchase of property.
From start to finish the team were professional, polite and respectfully explained the legal process clearly throughout.
Must make special note of one Emily Pope whom was amazing & really supported us at every step!

It always amazes me how long a sale can take. This is the second time I have used them, for the same House, buying, and then this time selling. I am assured that Martin Tolhurst kept their eye on the sale and progressed it though as I required. All was completed in my time frame. Hopefully I will not be selling again but if so I would have no hesitations in using them again.

Negligent and exhausting service.

They reviewed and summarised the management pack but failed to flag a serious building issue (water pump damage). I discovered it myself and had to ask them whether this should be disclosed to my lender. It was only after I raised it that they informed the lender, who then withdrew the mortgage offer due to the nature of the damage which was disclosed in the management pack. Had I not questioned this, the purchase could have gone through and I’d have been left with a major issue years later.

Communication was appalling. I was constantly chasing for updates. When my solicitor went on holiday, I was passed to an admin staff member who was unhelpful, unreliable, and never called back as promised. I only received information when I chased repeatedly. The online portal was rarely updated.

They may have a high volume of clients, but that is no excuse for negligence and terrible service. This may be specific to the solicitor on my case and their admin, but if they represent the firm, I would not recommend them at all.

Avoid.

Having just used the services of Martin Tolhurst Solicitors for the sale of our property and purchase of a new property, we would highly recommend them. Ours was not a straight forward case, but they were very thorough to the point of other organisations that were involved in the chain commenting that they were having to respond to questions that they had never been asked before. The whole team were very professional and courteous and it was always possible to speak to someone directly in the team whenever we put a call through, they were always very clear and concise in their response. We would have no hesitation in recommending them.
