I was looking for a solicitor in a specialist area and although Maffey and Brentnall didn't offer that area, the guy I spoke to went to great lengths to help me find one who did and I am now working with the recommended solicitor who is being good so far :-)

Happy with the service we received from Ali and Shan on the conveyancing of our house. We had to pull out of the first property on a problem the other solicitor wouldn’t sort, but had to complete on our sale. When we found a second property they worked really quickly to make it happen in 8 weeks. Shan was always available and spoke to Ali when needed. Reasonably priced and would recommend them.

I recently used Maffey & Brentnall for my lease extension, and their service was outstanding. They made a complex process feel straightforward, providing clear guidance and regular updates throughout.

A stunning lack of communication and confusion made the already stressful conveyancing process more strenuous than it already was - leading to my partner almost being hospitalised with the stress. Repeated chasing emails from both myself and the other party's solicitors (see images) lead to a slow, unenthusiastic response. It seemed as though Ali & Shan did not communicate with one another - one adding conditions to the contract that the other did not agree with.

When asking for specific updates, we were met with a vague response - like they didn't really know! When pushed for a response or call back, this rarely happened. We had to chase every step of the way. We did however get the exchange & completion on the dates we requested - however I believe that this would not have been the case if we (both parties) did not chase on a daily basis.

To this day we have not met Ali - we visited the office (twice, the second time to re-sign contracts that were incorrect the first time) - however he did not have the courtesy to come and meet us, regardless of how busy he may or may not have been.

Would recommend going elsewhere - we certainly won't be using Maffey & Brentall again.
