I have used MacDonald Oates for years for a difficult separation and subsequent children matters. We have been through court in 2021 and again in 2025/2026 and both times the family team (notably Nisha Tayal and Emily Bull) have been amazing.

Supportive, practical and no-nonsense. I couldn't have asked for better and while I hope I don't have to use their services again, I would have no doubt in returning if I do.

Divorce is never easy, but I felt fortunate to have Emily Bull in my corner throughout the process. She grasped my priorities quickly, gave thoughtful and pragmatic advice, and always acted in my best interests. It was a difficult time, but her calm, clear-headed guidance made a real difference. I genuinely felt listened to and supported — and that’s not something I take for granted.

Pretty poor experience working with McDonald Oats. Stalled multiple times despite the land transaction being exactly the same as before that they advised on. They also cost twice as much as our other solicitor. Recommend M&L as a more cost effective and prompt solicitors in property and land. We finally got transaction completed after chasing multiple times. Won't be using them again.
