Think very carefully about instructing these solicitors. I can't actually speak to how good they are at conveyancing because we didn't even get that far.

I went to them one day looking for someone to represent me in the sale of my property as my former solicitors are based in Watford where I used to live.

I told them I wanted to sell my house and we went through the usual details but I was told the boss wasn't in so someone would give me a call or send me an email when he returned. The young man with whom I had spoken was perfectly polite and he informed that he would execute the work but his boss would oversee.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and I had heard nothing from them. I popped back in to enquire and was told they wouldn't be taking me on as a client because the boss "didn't want the work".

No explanation just told a conveyancing solicitor doesn't want conveyancing work. I made no protestations because you can't force people to take your money.

I was prepared to leave it at that until I had a conversation with another property developer and told him about my strange experience and before I had divulged who the solicitors were, told me their name.

He explained he had had a similar experience with them and was frankly shocked that they were still in business. He told me some other things but as I personally have no proof I will refrain from saying them publicly.

There are not many reasons why people inexplicably engage in "denial of service". I'll let you speculate as to why but just be warned. Don't let people who absolutely do not want to work for you be charged with the care of arguably your most valuable asset.

Using these solicitors for the conveyancing on my house and so far everything is going to plan. Very professional.
