Extremely disappointed with the service we received from Hunt & Coombs during our house purchase.

We had previously used the firm on two occasions, so trusted them to act for us again. Unfortunately, during the purchase of our new home, there appears to have been a major misunderstanding regarding our source of funds. Rather than contacting us or the family member providing the gift to clarify the position, the firm decided they could no longer act for us and also declined the lender’s instructions.

This caused huge stress, delay and disruption at a critical point in the transaction, especially as the seller was pushing for completion. In our view, a simple phone call could have resolved the issue, as the funds were gifted and supporting evidence was available.

We fully understand that solicitors have strict anti-money laundering and lender obligations, but we felt the matter was handled in a very premature and heavy-handed way, without giving us a fair opportunity to clarify the facts.

The situation caused us significant distress and inconvenience, and we are now having to instruct a new solicitor urgently to try and keep the purchase alive.

Based on our experience, we would not recommend Hunt & Coombs for conveyancing.

I had a very good experience with Hunt & Coombs Solicitors, Peterborough.
They are extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Mr Kashif Khan handled my court proceedings and he was able to get me a very favourable, positive outcome. I would definitely recommend them.

Jo is hands down the best solicitor we’ve ever worked with. She is brilliant, no-nonsense, and actually makes the whole process fun, which is a rare thing to say about moving house!

She is head and shoulders above anyone else we have used in the past. If you want someone who gets the job done efficiently while being incredibly friendly and approachable, Jo is the one.

We would 100% recommend her to anyone. Thanks again, Jo!

Their solicitor, Richard, visitied me while being detained in a Psychiatric Ward upon appealing my section. While going over my case, he pressurised me with aggressive questioning, claiming it would "prepare me for the hearing" and consequently failed to represent me properly during my CTO appeal upon discharge. He failed to read a crucial document provided by a family member written to the panel in support of my appeal, and while I attempted to respond to comments misrepresenting me, dismissed my defense as though he was acting in the interests of the panel and not myself.
After other participants finished giving evidence, he addressed me with a question. It was; why do you think you have been admitted to hospital as many times as you have? I was shocked that he was deliberately attempting to discredit me in view of the panel, and I couldn't think of an answer quickly enough. It was deeply unpleasant.
Solicitors should, according to law, always act in the best interests of the client, not just bend to norms that exist to prop up false notions of people's mental health.
I maintain that I do not suffer from any mental health issue and never have done. I refuse any psychotropic drugs and assert that I simply ended up in a cycle within a system that renders individuals dependant rather than empowered.
My assertion that I am normal unsettled Richard, and he failed to represent me when faced with members of the panel who subscribed to afforementioned long-held beliefs to do with mental health.

I recently used this firm for legal services and was very pleased with the support I received. The team was professional, knowledgeable, and responsive throughout the process, taking the time to explain everything clearly and ensuring I felt confident at each stage. Communication was prompt and straightforward, and the matter was handled efficiently from start to finish. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and thorough legal assistance.
