Had mirror wills draw up through will aid charity and found the experience very straightfoward and well organised, a big thank you to christienne and the harland staff who were all friendly and professional.

A solicitors is a solicitors, and this is quite typical of that.

You can access 'Legal Aid' through Harland & Co, and what I wasn't aware of is that everyone is entitled to a free 1hr face-to-face with a lawyer.

If you're not here for general legal advice, they'll happily give you generic info - but once you get into the depths and minutiae of things, expect a bill proportionate to legal fees.
They're not the cheapest - which I'd probably not go to, personally, and are not the most expensive.

I'm very disappointed with the service. After making a few requests for information relating to a somewhat complicated legal circumstance, Alison become increasingly rude and irritable. After enquiring whether she would prefer not to represent me, her response was snippy and disrespectful, asking me to "tear up" paperwork she sent me. I understand that solicitors prefer "easy" clients, but I nevertheless find this behavior unprofessional and generally unacceptable.

The only place in the city for legal advice as far as I am concerned. Have to declare I first used there expertise over 45 years ago, to some they may think I have a bias.
Do research for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

I realised some time ago that a legal representative is my voice in the world, often when the world is unfathomable, even frightening. So my question was what sort of voice do I want to speak for me... Reasoned? Informed? Experienced? Principled? And what sort of tone would I want to be associated with... Measured? Calm? Circumspect? And what ultimately did I want to know deep inside... That I was believed? That someone would stand by me? Fight for me if required? Five stars for Harland & Co whose staff possess these qualities in spades. Five stars.
