In moving into Hastings from London we entrusted our sale and purchase to Christopher Bean and we were very pleased we did. We had a few problems with our purchasers and their solicitor and this caused extra work for Christopher Bean and his staff. However, we were delighted in the way these problems were dealt with, the way we were kept informed and the fact that while others may have taken advantage and ramped up the charges, the overall invoice was well within our expectations and we felt their services came at a very reasonable price.

I wanted to take a moment to share my experience with a solicitor who played a crucial role in the successful completion of our house purchase.

We recently worked with Emma jones from Christopher Bean Solicitors and I cannot recommend them highly enough. From the very first consultation, it was evident that they are incredibly knowledgeable about the intricacies involved in property law.

Emma jones was not only professional but also very approachable, which made the whole process much less daunting. They took the time to explain every step clearly and were always available to answer our questions, no matter how trivial they seemed.

Emma and her team and receptionist from the first day to completion were very professional I think I wouldn't have got through my first house purchase with out them I would recommend them to anyone in the Hastings area .

Having used christopher bean solicitors and having an awful time with them I would not recommend using them for reasons including confidentially and data breaches allowing my information to be accessed by scammers. I will add my reasons to find another soliciting firm and avoid christopher bean solicitoring below.

Firstly, via email I was told that I was not the priority of customer and that the urgency of other cases superceded my case AFTER having paid for my searches and contractually agreeing to use you as my solicitors. The delay added a month to the sale that I was insured would be rapid, one of the stated reasons the vendor withdrew from the sale was due to the sale taking too long.

Once I had been assured that my case was now able to be started I had very little luck receiving updates from you, Emailing once every week for an update sometimes to not get a reply. Via email I was told that you are very busy and have too many clients to be able to give me the updates at the frequency that I desired AFTER I had signed the agreement to use you. Again, a situation where I felt I was not a priority and that my case was mishandled due to my solicitors poorly managed workload.

Finally and most concerning is the data breach that you experienced causing my information to be leaked and expose me to a potential scam that almost lost me my deposit. The details possessed by the fraudster included my name, address and even amount of money that I'd be using for a deposit allowing for a very convincing request that would have lost me everything. You had no sympathies for the situation and was only made aware of it AFTER I flagged the email. If I had been made aware that my firm had mismanaged a client's data and broken confidentiality I would make sure to forward my sincerest apologies. Something I did not receive. A very poor service, I would have thought a breach in clients confidentiality would concern a soliciting firm enough to at least form an apology.

These three points are my main concerning reasons on why I did not expect to receive this request for money for the "work" carried out. There are smaller details such as not being told about your firms name change mid process causing confusion, my solicitor taking frequent annual leave breaks and more that I believe also caused the fall-through in the sale. All of these points thankfully for my sake have email evidence that I can support myself with.

I strongly recommend you to look elsewhere for your solicitoring needs.
