We had the misfortune to be beneficiaries in a Will which was handled by Barwells ( Charlotte Cordell) .
The entire experience was long winded, inefficient and costly.
When we made a formal complaint about what was happening and our unhappiness about how we were treated, this complaint was dealt with by a retired member of the firm.
Needless to say this complaint was not upheld.
When my Dad and his wife made their initial Will they had quite a lot of money.
They were not advised to leave a percentage to the charities but actual sums of money.
After years of residential care home fees this left very little left in the pot.
For us it's not about the money we received ( eventually!) but about the poor advice and the tardy handling of the Will.
I would strongly advise thinking twice about using any solicitor in this situation and certainly not Barwells.
A simple straightforward Will took over a year and cost us over £5K .

I have recently redrafted my will guided by Tim Morgan. His and Hannah's efforts are greatly appreciated. Everything went very smoothly. I have also had a very satisfactory meeting with Holley Hendon about a landlord and tenant matter.

Been using barwells for over 40 years when I bought my first house. Bought another 5 since then, plus used them for probate and will writing. I trust this firm implicitly and will continue to have them deal with all legal issues I might encounter in the future. My kids now use them for their legal stuff.

Your receptionist, Carolyn, what can I say!!! She has a beautiful manner and delivers mazing customer service, going way above and beyond! I would like to suggest you award her a pay rise and a bonus. Fabulous front of house for your company! Invaluable to any business.

Incompetent from the start PLEASE not allow your loves to use these to write a will stating they were the executors. Then uses this fact to charge high amounts. They also have no capacity to even add up percentages on a will, constant issues with wrong names & addresses being written to and on their system. Wanting us to pay a bill they forgotten about 2 years after the estate was settled and 3 years after I gave them the bill.
They refused to pay a local funeral director using the estate money, lied saying later it had been paid.But it took 30 calls and emails from myself for them to pay months later.
