Karen and Clare provided an excellent and personable service for our property sale and purchase.
They were super efficient with attention to detail, in getting searches and paperwork in place. This is the second time we have used Barwells Newhaven for conveyancing and recommend them highly.

Have worked with Karen on multiple transactions she is great and keeps everyone up to date I am also a boxing coach at Hillcrest boxing club in Newhaven and Barwells have helped with sponsorship which has really helped the local club

Similar to a lot of recent reviews - I would never recommend anyone uses Barwells Newhaven (or any office for that matter)

Sadly we were on end of Barwells being the sellers' solicitors in a recent transaction - they were slow, left paperwork on their desks untouched for weeks, and hugely unhelpful with enquiries. Some of their responses to our conveyancing team were somewhat rude and we had to waste considerable time going back and forth on points which should have been simple.

If you're looking for a conveyancing firm to act on your behalf, look elsewhere.

I cannot recommend this company for conveyance, they are slow, unresponsive and dont finish important aspects of the job.
They are extremely slow to respond to any emails, sometimes taking up to two weeks just to simply forward questions on to me from buyers solicitor or pass on replies, when they eventually do respond they are often very curt. This should have been a quick and easy sale with absolutely no chain, my buyers solicitor was quick and responsive, but unfortunately Barwells slowed the process with their lack of response or actions, getting to the point the buyers solicitor having to pass messages onto me via the estate agent as they weren't getting any communication from Barwells.
Upon completing I was simply happy I didn't have to deal with them anymore, but I didn't receive my invoice or post sale documents. And then it got worse when I received an email from my estate agents stating that the sellers solicitor had been chasing Barwells about missing indemnity insurance, this was something that Barwells has charged me for and should have been done by completion day.
Barwells have managed to make what should have been a simple sale with minimal back and forth extremely difficult, they haven't done something vital, but have charged me for it and weren't responding to anyone who is trying to rectify their mistakes.
It took me contacting the practice manager to finally get a response from my solicitor, with absolutely no apology for their oversight or the inconvenience and the claim that no one has contacted them about the missing insurance, which insinuates myself or the buyers were lying? Email responses were brief and lacked full information, so again I had to chase to get the full answers to my questions. I'm not confident that they would have got this important policy finalised in time had I not been spending my time chasing it.
To anyone considering using Barwells: you have no hope having a smooth sale with this team.
To Barwells: A simple apology can go a long way.

UPDATE: 3 weeks and still waiting for incredibly important paperwork to come in the post, I was advised this has been done, but it wasn't so this simply shows their continued sloppiness. After chasing this they still have not uttered any words of apology. Terrible.

The whole team at Barwells Newhaven are amazing. They have to be the best conveyancing solicitors I have ever used. They stayed in regular communication with me, updating me and chasing any questions I had. I always felt I was clear as to what was going on during the sale and purchase process, which is essential.
