I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Allisons team. Unfortunately, I had to pull out of two property purchases before finally finding the right one, and they supported me every step of the way.
I was also working against a tight deadline, as my mortgage offer was close to expiring, which left me with very little time to complete the purchase. The team were absolutely brilliant throughout the process. Everyone was proactive, kept things moving, and worked hard every day to help get everything over the line.
Thanks to their dedication and professionalism, we completed on my property just before the mortgage offer expiry date.

We were extremely disappointed with the service provided by Howells Legal during the handling of our seller’s forward purchase. Communication was consistently poor, with very slow responses and long periods without any updates unless we chased repeatedly.

Due to the lack of progress, I took it upon myself to contact one of the partners directly out of desperation to get the sale moving. Rather than addressing the concerns or offering assistance, I was abruptly shut down and told they would not respond to me. This felt dismissive and unhelpful, particularly given the urgency of the situation.

The overall lack of responsiveness, poor communication, and unwillingness to engage constructively caused unnecessary stress and delays. Unfortunately, the service fell well below the standard we would expect from a professional legal firm.

Extremely disappointing experience. This firm acted for the seller of the property we were buying, and dealing with them was painfully slow and frustrating from start to finish. Basic enquiries took an unreasonable amount of time to resolve, with long periods of no communication or progress at all.
It consistently felt like there was very little urgency or effort on their side. Our solicitors and estate agents were chasing almost daily, yet enquiries that should have been straightforward dragged on for weeks. This caused unnecessary stress, uncertainty, and delays during an already demanding process.
Buying a home is stressful enough without feeling like the other side’s solicitors are holding everything up. Unfortunately, this lack of responsiveness and proactivity had a real impact on our experience, and I would struggle to recommend them based on this.

Our recent house purchase was made far more stressful than it needed to be because the vendor was using Howells Solicitors (Bridgend).

Howells confirmed exchange for the 28th October and provided bank details for the transfer, so everything should have been straightforward. Instead, when completion day arrived, they went completely silent. My solicitor first contacted them at 6:30am and spent the entire day chasing for updates, with next to no response.

By late afternoon, we were still waiting for the keys with no explanation. At 4:45pm, the estate agent finally managed to reach the vendor directly — only to be told that Howells had informed her everything was ready to go. Clearly, that wasn’t the case.

Their lack of communication and professionalism caused unnecessary stress and delay on what should have been an exciting day. I would strongly advise anyone considering Howells Solicitors to look elsewhere — their service was unacceptable.

Slow and uninterested is how i would sum up the service from Howells. It took around 10 days to even get our account set up as they couldn't seem to get the address right, then even sent us documentation pertaining to the SALE of a different property rather than our purchase! I heard from 5 different admin assistants during this process, but not once from the 'solicitor/conveyancer', even after requesting a direct response. Unfortunately our purchase fell through after the vendors pulled out, but we quickly found another property that Howells said they would support us with. 3 weeks later i still haven't heard from them (despite multiple chases) Our estate agent has even tried, needing to send them the Deed of Sale, but he was just told no file exists.

After instructing another conveyancer the purchase is now progressing smoothly and quickly. I really wouldn't waste your time with Howells.
