Horrendous company!!! When my step father who had lasting power of attorney over my mother who has dementia, passed away nearly a month ago. I contacted Simpson Millar for the paperwork as I too have LPA and need to access her funds to pay for her ongoing care and bills. They want me to carry out a competency examination to ensure the LPA needs to be activated. Her late husband was granted it in 2019 but somehow feel that she needs an assessment again now. She has dementia, it’s a progressive condition, she’s not likely to have gained any more capacity since 2019. SHE IS YOUR CLIENT, SHE HAS HAD NO MONEY FOR NEARLY A MONTH. IF THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CLIENTS YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. Especially ones who are vulnerable.

22/09/23: 2 months on from last review and still nothing. Horrendous!! This is clearly what happens when big companies absorb smaller local ones. Profit before people and service. SHE’S YOUR CLIENT!!!!!

10/12/23: STILL WAITING!!!!! And she’s now in a care home at £3200 a month and has been since September being paid for privately.
