Attended a meeting for new wills & power of attorney’s — told drafts be ready in 2 weeks. After 3 weeks chased it up, told “ready in couple of days”. After 4 weeks told paperwork was ready for review. Another week goes by until final paperwork is completed. End product was good but “staff shortages” was poor reason for extended delay

I asked 3 weeks ago for advice which is supposed to be free of charge. Before getting that advice I was informed that I had to put £400 into Malcolm Fitzgerald's firm account which I did. The day following the payment I decided not to proceed with taking legal action. I was then told that I would hear about the paid in monies very shortly. Then I was told in a couple of days by the receptionist then no one takes my calls. Where does that leave me? It looks like that Firm is very quick to take your money and then to decide to ignore you. I have just heard from Malcolm following this review. It is not £400 that we owe for free advice but over £600!!!
I was told that the £400 required was for searches expenses like the Land Register and the Leasehold Terms and Conditions which I supplied myself. I was indeed given the solicitors' fees should I wish to proceed with any case. I was NOT told that I would have to pay for their advice.

Once the problem involving an ex employee of theirs was resolved , which took over 7 months and during which time I was lied to as to "progress" , it was only when this person resigned and when an equity partner got involved that progress was made and the work was finally completed.
I have no doubt that GWCA too were given false assurances by their ex employee as to her client list's progress.
I hope that procedures have been tightened up in GWCA and that no one else experiences the stress and delay I and others involved experienced .
I had used GWCA before for conveyancing work and they were efficient.
