Had a pair of basic wills written through the Will Aid scheme. We were told in the initial (15 minute) interview it would cost £180, which is Will Aid's suggested donation. When we went to sign them we were told there would be additional charges, as the wills weren't basic and extra work had been incurred. No-one had contacted about the so-called extra work. I contacted Will Aid directly and filed a complaint about the solicitors. Will Aid told me the kind of will we had was definitely basic, and additional charges cover much more complicated additional work (such as setting up a Trust Fund). They asked me to contact the solicitors and ask for a breakdown of charges to be emailed so they could investigate. When I did this, Halliwell's claimed there had been a 'misunderstanding' and they wouldn't be charging me extra after all.
