Dealing with Powis as executors for a family member’s will was an incredibly frustrating experience. Communication was almost nonexistent and I was constantly left chasing for updates, only to be met with weak excuses for the endless delays. What should have been a straightforward process dragged on for over two years and the final invoice far exceeded the original quote. My advice? Steer clear of Powis and seek out a reputable, recommended solicitor instead.

My mother died, leaving a very simple will and up to date accounts, making Mervyn Baker executor. We were quoted 6 months to 1 year for them to carry out the work involved. It has however, taken over 2 years, for Powis and Co, enact the will and finalise the distribution of funds. Our experience was one of complete frustration, due to the number of mistakes that were made, their short working day, poor communication and a failure to engage with 21 century methods of communication.

If you're looking for a bright, shiny office Powis & Co is not for you.
However, if you are looking for good, friendly solicitors walk in the door.
Over the last year Mervyn Baker has handled the conveyancing for both the property I was selling and the one I was buying, while Louise Dyer dealt with the probate side of things after my wife passed away.
As is always the case with solicitors, you sometimes have to ask for an update, but rest assured the team is busy working on your behalf behind the scenes.
True, the offices have seen better days, but if you want chrome, smoked glass and a couple of Porsches and Teslas on the forecourt perhaps Powis and Co isn't for you.
On the other hand, if you want professionals who genuinely care, Mervyn, Louise and the team are there for you, eager to work on your behalf and deal with whatever issue you might have.
Mervyn and Louise got me through a very difficult period in my life, and I would not hesitate in using them again, indeed I will do to sort out my will.
If you need good solicitors with a personal touch, don't judge a book by its cover.

Awful experience. Within days of my mum passing away I had to call for some important information. I was spoken to very rudely, told to wait & see for information & also told not to call again & the phone would be put down on me when I got a little frustrated because no help was being given, all I wanted was some info so I could do my mum's funeral.

I was pacing outside of their office, speaking on the phone at a normal volume, not loudly. And a man popped out of the door and said to me "do us a favour and fxck off". If that's how their staff speak to people on the street, I would recommend stay far far away from doing any business with them.
