On the 18th of September 2023, our lives changed in a single moment. My husband was involved in a devastating road traffic accident that left him in critical condition. He suffered a tibial plateau fracture, multiple rib fractures, severe facial injuries, the loss of most of his teeth, and a frontal lobe brain injury. He spent three weeks in the RVI Hospital in Newcastle fighting through pain, fear, and uncertainty. When he was finally discharged, he returned home unable to walk, relying on a wheelchair, and facing a long and difficult recovery. As his wife, I was terrified. Everything in our life had changed overnight, and I didn’t know how we would cope.
