Absolutely nightmarish property sale in which we has the misfortune to deal with a senior figure at Gilson Gray. Extraordinary hostility and paranoia from them, quickly draining the goodwill of everyone else involved in the transaction (including the estate agent!), and dragging it out for months longer than it needed to be. They take 'caveat emptor' to new - and profoundly pointless - depths. I'm sorry to leave this review, but unfortunately, it's deserved. I have never been so relieved for something to agonisingly slowly crawl to an end. Avoid.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If your counterpart is using Gilson Gray, demand that they change their solicitors before conveyancing, otherwise you will regret it.
We sold a simply 2 bedroom house, counterpart was using Gilson Gray. Offer was accepted at the end of May 2025. My solicitors had virtually no response from them for 2 solid months, only to come back in August 2025 saying "we are carrying out financial background checks". They then asked for a deed of variation for the service charge, which could be easily mitigated by a simple indemnity insurance. They dragged this on for 2 additional months for no apparent reason. By end of November, they were finally ready to exchange, and we were told their client's documents did not come through (estate agent informed buyer already sent documents in June). They then took 2 weeks to re-sign the documents for completion to happen in December 2025, and tried to short change me 100 pounds at completion.
The lady who was handling the conveyancing ghosted my solicitors for months on end,, and only responded to a status update after I personally emailed them demanding an update.
Long story short - DO NOT USE, and DO NOT DEAL WITH BUYERS OR SELLERS USING GILSON GRAY.

Avoid, avoid , avoid.
5 months wasted since August onboarding. With Trsvis Yeoman. And Alice Baker. Now just before completion and still not responding to last questions.
Firm cancelled contract. Without clarifying enquiries response.
MALICIOUS. Is not the word here to describe them.
I will be taking them to small claims. As new conveyancing firm had to be allocated that will charge additional fees for urgency and last minute services . If property buyer will be lost , will update this review.
Each step had to be chased down with weeks on weeks of radio silent and delays.
Onbaording took 5 weeks.
TA6 and TA10 forms were sent since start of September. Resubmitted mid 10th october And sent off to buyer 2 months later 29 October !
Same for enquiries. Sent 2 weeks later.

Avoid Gilson Gray at all costs, we had the most frustrating, stressful and slow experience with them.
- We had to deal with several solicitors due to members of staff leaving the firm and we would not be notified of their departure. This caused delays as we would still email the point of contact and colleagues who were still there were copied in but ignored us, allowing us to waste time emailing someone who had left.
- Sellers, buyers and estate agents were left frustrated with not being able to get hold of our solicitor for days. On these occasions we would have to reach out to TTPs to chase for us and we would not be notified of key things like deposits needing to be paid.
- Our solicitor did not pay the final ground rent and service charge to the management company following the sale. I received emails threatening to refer me to debt collection services and a £40 late payment fee for funds sent to the Solicitors in May 2025 but these were not paid onto the management company until July 2025.
- I had to get questions answered myself by emailing and chasing the management agent which the solicitor should have been managing and I would then pass the answers back onto them - at times it felt like i was doing the solicitors job we were paying them to do.
The entire buying and selling process is stressful enough but this was a horrendous experience. I lodged a formal complaint against our solicitor with Gilson Gray on 7th August 2025 and they do not care enough to respond with a solution. We spent SO much money on Gilson Gray's services and really regret ever using them.
I would suggest you avoid them at all costs.

Had a positive experience working with Paul, Ema and Katerina on my first home purchase and would wholeheartedly recommend their services. My purchase involved a lease extension which, as a first time buyer, I was quite nervous about. However, the team were great, explained everything in simple terms and set out what needed to happen in order to save me time and money in the long run. The rest went smoothly, every question I had was answered, communication with the team was regular and prompt (even when there were no major updates) and full transparency about the costs involved every step of the way. Overall very satisfied with the service. Thank you!
