Absolutely disgraceful service. This has been, without question, the worst experience I have ever had with a solicitor.

I instructed this firm to deal with a housing disrepair claim relating to my bathroom. What should have been a straightforward case dragged on for almost four years, with little to no communication unless I was the one constantly chasing them. I had 3 different solicitors through all changing like seasons. I had to repeatedly call for updates because they rarely kept me informed.

The way they handled my compensation was shocking. I called numerous times asking when I would receive my payment, yet nobody told me that they intended to send it directly to my landlord towards rent arrears. I wasn’t sent a letter, an email, or even given a courtesy phone call before they did it. Mind you the previous solicitor before Zara Afzal, Mr Blaney told me himself that they will not be sending my compensation to my landlord because that wasn’t the agreement.

What makes this even worse is that Zara had multiple opportunities to tell me what was happening while I was calling for updates. Instead, I only found out after the money had already been transferred. Had anyone communicated with me beforehand, I would have explained that Universal Credit was also paying towards my rent and discussed the situation before my compensation was paid away.

After waiting nearly four years, to have my compensation dealt with behind my back without any warning or meaningful communication is completely unacceptable. I felt ignored, kept in the dark and treated as though my views as the client didn’t matter at all.

If you’re considering using this firm, ask yourself whether you want to spend years chasing updates only to be left completely uninformed when it comes to your own compensation. Based on my experience, I would never use this firm again and would strongly advise others to think very carefully before instructing them.
