Glanvilles Anderson Rowntree Chichester charged me £492 for a meeting that lasted seconds. I emailed them our private school contract to see if there was any way to stop being chased for a final bill or get out of it. They invited me in on 12 September 2024. I sat down and was told immediately there was nothing that could be done. The answer was obvious from the documents. They could have said exactly that by email or phone.

They chose the appointment and the bill instead.

I dealt with the identical situation on another contract with Bennett Griffin in Chichester. They reviewed it over email, told me straight there was no point coming in, and I paid nothing. That is how it is done properly.

Glanvilles turned a clear “no” into a billed meeting. If you want solicitors who prioritise getting you through the door and taking the fee, use them. If you want firms that give the straight answer without unnecessary charges, go to Bennett Griffin.
