Such a disappointing experience with this firm. We instructed them for our house sale and purchase because they were very responsive when providing a quote, but once they were formally instructed it became extremely difficult to get any communication from them.

Our solicitor, Sarah, went on long-term sick leave with no out-of-office message or notice. We waited months for any response despite repeated emails and phone calls chasing updates. When we finally raised a complaint, it was handled by the owner, Bernadette, who was rude and dismissive. She stated that Sarah’s inbox had been monitored during her sick leave, which only raised the obvious question: if it was being monitored, why were none of our emails responded to or acted upon?

The lack of professionalism continued throughout. When Sarah eventually returned, we arranged a face-to-face meeting around lunchtime on a weekday. When I arrived, there was a large sign on the door essentially telling visitors to go away because staff were on lunch. Even worse, a staff member came to the door and rudely questioned whether I could read the sign and why I was there because it was their lunch break. The meeting time was pre-arranged and suggested by Sarah herself???!

Unfortunately, it seems this reputation is known locally as well. Our estate agent advised our buyer not to expect anything to progress quickly because of this firm. Had we known this beforehand, we would never have instructed them. The buyer’s solicitor even had to raise complaints due to the lack of response. In fact, I ended up receiving more clarity about the process from the buyer’s solicitor when I called them to apologise for the delays caused by my own solicitor

I instructed JW&Stammers in Nov 22 on recommendation of dealing with Kerry Joels, now sadly retired. Once that process was resolved I dealt with Kenneth Skinner who, despite a very difficult process, was nothing short of professional, honest and supportive throughout. John Welch and stammers went above and beyond for me and I will be forever grateful. Thank you.

We had an appalling experience with these guys. We sought to instruct them act in the sale of my mother- in- laws property following her death late last year. My wife spoke to their senior partner Bernadette and explained that she was keen to deal with a firm who could provide a personal service rather than one that was purely process driven.
