Poor service. I contacted Lyons Solicitors regarding managing my late father's estate and assistance with Land Registry applications. Following the initial phone call, I provided the information as requested and required a quote. Despite chasing them at least 3 times I received no response. Not a great way to treat a potential customer, especially a bereaved one. I understand they might be busy but a simple response to say they wouldn't be able to help would have been appreciated. The inability to fulfil that small task does not fill me with confidence.

Avoid !! Absolutely shocking law firm , Edward Lyon’s the most underhanded solicitor I’ve ever met ! Mumbles , be lucky to even get a email responded to , many occasions told he can’t find in his emails ,
We then move on to conveyancing ,
Quoted , then they put price up by £600 making excuses , ( I never paid this and argued it ) they had to honour it ,
Nothing is dealt with by one person , you will end up with emails from many people passed about and the best line I heard from a solicitor at the branch when attended to sign some documents’ don’t ask me any questions as I can’t give a answer , ‘I don’t work in that department’. What !!!! If a solicitor is to deal with a matter at least have knowledge of what you are actually doing !!
Shocking !! I’d never use again

7 years after the purchase of my house which was managed by Lyons Solicitors, I decided to sell it because of personal circumstances. Engaged a different Solicitor for the sale as the turnaround time from Lyons was appalling and at the time as first time buyer, I did not realise this. My new solicitors identified gaps which is now costing me a fair bit to address. With experience, I now understand what these gaps are and should have been easy for a solicitor to spot.
I now realise they simply did not do a thorough enough job nor were timely as the then seller’s solicitors ended up giving a deadline for completion.
Request first time buyers to avoid. If you have experience of how a house sale / purchase works, then a slightly lower risk but a risk nevertheless. I am leaving this review almost 7 years after my engagement with this firm so gives a sense of how I feel about Lyons.

Really poor firm, shocking experience throughout. Never responded to emails and never returned phone calls. At fault throughout the process of selling my property. When I made an initial complaint the Partner Duncan, was nice as pie and apologised profusely. Then when it came to dealing with the complaint at the end of the process he denied everything.

I found Edward Lyons to be very professional, courteous and quick to respond to all correspondence from me in my divorce case. The cost was reasonable for the work. involved with no nasty surprises .He was approachable and a calming influence during a very stressful time. I would recommend this firm of solicitors.
