To the Staff at Mortons who are driven by efficiency and excellent customer service, who pride themselves on ethical practices and go out of their way to help Clients, I'm sorry that it's come to this, and I hope matters can be resolved by Senior Management so you can progress the sale of my property
Having personally reached out to Morton's Practice Manager and 3 Solicitor Directors this morning, as well as the complaints department, regarding your decision yesterday to cease acting in this transaction.
I must say I am both surprised and disappointed by the position you have taken by the staff at your Seaham Branch. who then informs "I refer to your recent e-mail communications in connection with this transaction. I have reviewed the file and discussed the case with Katrina. It has become apparent at this early stage that the expectations you have for the progress of this transaction are unrealistic. We have made the decision that we are unable to continue to act for you in this transaction, and you should instruct alternative solicitors.
At no point did I believe that my expectations for progress were unreasonable. My communications simply sought updates and clarity on the status of the matter, which I consider to be a normal and reasonable request from a client, particularly given the importance and time-sensitive nature of the transaction.
For a Law firm to withdraw from acting at such an early stage, citing “unrealistic expectations,” without first attempting to properly address the concerns raised or establish a clearer timeline, is concerning. As a client, I engaged your firm in good faith with the expectation of professional guidance, communication, and support throughout the process.
Your decision to discontinue acting places me in a difficult position and may cause unnecessary delay to the transaction. I would therefore ask that you:
Provide a clear explanation of the specific expectations you believe were unrealistic.
Confirm that all documents, correspondence, and work completed to date will be transferred promptly to my new solicitor once appointed.
Confirm whether any fees are being charged for the work undertaken so far.
I would appreciate your prompt response so that I can take the necessary steps to ensure the transaction proceeds without further disruption.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Hall

Second time using Morton’s for a house sale/purchase. Had a long & difficult buying/selling process for varying reasons but Morton’s always kept me up to date and answered any queries I had. Thank you to Niamh, Michelle and Holly who were all extremely helpful. Would highly recommend 😊

Michelle Moore? An easy 5 star. She was our solicitor throughout the process of purchasing a property - extremely responsive, positive, helpful and reassuring. I loved my experience with working with Mortons. Special thanks to Michelle and team! :)

I had the pleasure of dealing with Michelle and I am so glad she took on my case of purchasing my first home. She was hands on and updated me all the way through. She was very patient with me and answered all my queries in a timely manner.
Buying a house is daunting and can be stressful and Michelle ensured that this wasn’t the case for me. It was a breeze and very pleasant.
I work in the estates industry and I know how much pressure solicitors have at the moment during this busy period however this did not stop Michelle from updating me and completing the Purchase within 7 weeks!!
Will forever be grateful for Michelle’s hard work. Thanks so much Michelle 😊
