Think very carefully before involvement with Orrick UK.

Awful experience with Orrick. In my dealings with the firm as an opponent in litigation, I found their conduct extremely concerning.

Orrick clumsily sent a bundle of around 1,200 pages to the wrong person, which included sensitive medical and pension-related material. Fortunately, I flagged the issue before the document was opened. Had I not done so, highly sensitive material could have been accessed by an unintended recipient.

They are now being sued. Yes the company instructed to sue is being sued!! Unbelievable.

The SRA regulator also issued Orrick with a 2024 letter of advice following my complaint about correspondence in which Orrick sought to get me to withdraw Pensions Regulator and FCA complaints.

Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend Orrick.

Orrick is undoubtedly one of the most over-rated firms in the land.

It’s business model is built on advising young, clever but unworldly tech entrepreneurs on venture capital investments. Orrick hopes to continue advising these firms when they bloom into tech giants.

Lawyers are therefore picked for their interpersonal as opposed to technical skills (because this apparently helps to retain clients). Both are important traits, but disregarding the intellectual abilities required to draft complex documents is risible. This likely explains why their academics are less strong than other city lawyers.

Take Revolut. Orrick advised on the initial investment and corporate governance. Look how disastrously that went!

Nice meeting rooms!

Visiting for a meetup, a very nice place for that. Good conference room, and good views outside to the city as well. Very professional feel, and good to have them supporting the local tech community.
