This is my first ever experience with a solicitors and my first ever time buying my own property but Amelia and Sanj made the whole process so easy and stress free! Having bought and sold many properties over the last 25 years both personally and professionally, we have never experienced the appalling service due to lack of communication that we did with Brixworth Legal Limited. Emails and calls were ignored and unanswered and texts were either read and ignored or not read for days. The seller's Solicitors and Estate Agent had the same experience. On more than one occasion we stated we were at risk of losing the property due to lack of communication and updates but this made no difference.
We have never not received any physical paperwork for signing and it was 4 months from having our offer accepted (over 2 months from appointment of Brixworth Legal Limited) that we were able to sign any documents. We had to travel an hour to Brixworth Legal Limited's office to do so, once by arrangement and a second time at short notice to ensure we were able to exchange. During our arranged meeting we found that questions that could have been asked via email or phone had been left, causing further delay.

Had we received the service we should have done, we believe we could have completed 2 months previously. The property was empty with no onward chain and we had no property to sell. We received a verbal apology and assurance our case would be given priority on 27th October. The reason given for the lack of service was different to the reason given to our mortgage broker. We did not receive a better service after this date and it was admitted during a phone call that our file had been sat untouched on the desk. Having been told everything was in order on 29th September, we did not complete until 21st November.

Ironically complaints should be addressed to the person dealing with our case and the website states complaints will be responded to in 2 working days! Our complaint was mentioned in a phone call over 48 hours after it was received, however it was stated "this phone call isn't about that". The phone call was post completion and was requesting a document that had already been handed to the solicitor when we attended their office. They took a photocopy of it on that day. It is now 5* working days since the formal complaint was sent and we have yet to receive a response. Edit - it is now 13 working days and Sanj still hasn't responded.

This experience has left us doubting the competence of the solicitor. We lost trust in them weeks ago and wonder if our case has been dealt with properly and professionally. Had our mortgage broker not gone above and beyond their role and had I not chased a response to emails, and been in regular contact with the Estate Agent, I believe we would still be waiting to complete or even lost the property altogether.

If our solicitor had been truthful regarding their situation, we would have taken our business elsewhere. We definitely won't be using Brixworth Legal Limited again and would definitely not recommend.

My husband and I recently used Brixworth legal for a house purchase and were so glad we did, they were very efficient and the communication was fantastic. Having used other companies in the past they will now be our go to for future sales/purchases and I will continue to recommend them to family and friends
