If you are looking for a conveyancing solicitor DO NOT GO HERE. Thomas Bagley has provided us with the most awful experience from start to finish. We were first time buyers buying a vacant property and we should have had a straightforward experience. Instead it was the worst service I have ever encountered and made our lives hell for 5 months.

From the get go he failed to mention a conflict of interest which cost us £500. He then went on holiday and didn’t reply for 4 weeks over the Xmas period (it’s completely understandable to have annual leave but with no warning and no cover provided this was frustrating). If we asked for updates he would say “if you haven’t heard anything there is nothing to report” and then leave weeks between contact. Searches were complete and we were in a predicament where we needed the keys and on the day of exchange and completion he found a boundary issue. He then gave us no way of solving the problem and simply insisted we shouldn’t buy the property (after his bill had been paid). He didn’t care whether we were left homeless and £2000 worse off because he’d been paid.

For the first couple of months we thought he was a trainee because he would say one thing then obviously refer to colleagues and decide no that wasn’t correct and change his mind. We then learnt this man is a DIRECTOR of the company. This was laughable to say the least and then was made better by the fact he’d be in ‘directors meetings’ whenever we tried to phone. Either be a director or be a practicing solicitor - clearly you can’t do both. He didn’t once answer the phone to us - NOT ONCE. It got to the point where we were going to go into the office but he was never ‘available’ anyway according to the receptionist who clearly was also annoyed never being able to contact him.

Thomas went on annual leave 3 times during our transaction. The final time he sent an email saying essentially “sorry nothing I can do” at 5pm on a Friday (he still had £150,000 of our money in the client account) and when we panicked and emailed him he was on annual leave for 2 weeks again! Luckily a lady called Abi picked up our case and completed the sale after us begging her as we’d have no where to live.

We now have our house but every bit of excitement has been drained from our first home experience because of this man. Please for your own sanity go elsewhere.
