Avoid at all costs. The level of incompetence is outstanding. I rang after speaking with 28 firms this is the worst. Michael alleged there was no capacity hence why advertise ? Why not state that from the onset ? Two things you would never want is unqualified people unable to take notes. Flippant, rude and dismissive. Make victims relive their ordeal and worst unable to note take, rang back and needed the same questions answered. I would question how they are able to practice any law. Having read another review this appears to be a common thread. My two year niece could have articulated more clearly. I asked repeatedly why are you advertising and requesting personal details if you have don’t and can’t do the job? Rubbish firm and il be honest first year law students at a law clinic were more professional that Lauren and Michael ! Glad I never instructed them and found a stupendous team. Rubbish is too polite!

Similar experience to the reviewer below. This firm rebuffed my approach for help following systemic discrimination and injustice at hands of public body & police. They seemed to more interested in finding timid excuses for the discriminatory actions that left a child traumatised. I do not believe they are genuinely independent and maybe became compromised at some point. Because it wasn’t what I expected from a firm that prides itself on fighting systemic & social injustice, especially when the evidence is so clear! Would never recommend. The lawyer who defended Child Q has left this firm, so maybe that’s telling about this firm’s trajectory. Found a firm that recognised the points of law and willing to uphold people's rights.

I approached Bhatt Murphy as a survivor of state and institutional abuse at the hands of the police, regarding an investigation in which I was the victim. The IOPC had upheld my complaint. Bhatt Murphy’s response particularly from Daisy and her supervisor was to advise me to “wait for further discrimination” before considering any action. No urgency. No trauma-informed care. No willingness to hold systems accountable until more harm occurred.

When I raised concerns, I was met with passive language and deflection not support. The communication reinforced the same systemic minimisation that survivors are often subjected to.

This firm may be reputable on paper, but if you’re a survivor seeking proactive legal care, I urge you to think carefully before placing your trust here. Representation should stand beside you not behind policy loopholes.

Bhatt Murphy fought hard from start to finish on my legal case, they made me feel involved and was very sensitive to the emotional state that I found myself in from start to finish on a case that was extremely complex.
