TAYLOR & EMMET LIMITED LIABILITY PARTNERSHIP

Just had a bit of a shock. My partner just received a quotation from Taylor Emmet for moving house which was very competitive - the cheapest we found. Luckily just before we ordered, we noticed hidden in the Ts & Cs an extra £600 fee, making them the most expensive! Hidden charges like this deserve 1-star reviews - terrible.

Staff dealing with a problem involving the Land Registry during my house sale had absolutely no idea what to do. They were quite unprofessional to the point of being rude.
The settlement of a will was delayed by several weeks due to a refund being claimed from British Gas - it was for £27. We were never told how much it was and the cost of getting this money was far more than the refund.
Previous dealings when setting up wills and initial discussions on a house sale were fine, but when it came to executing these things
we were very disappointed with the service we received.

We had a very decent experience as FTB with Taylor Emmet. They were very quick with searches, and enquiries, and from appointment to completion it only took us about 10 weeks to purchase our (chain-free) property. Even with Christmas in the middle too!

The only area for improvement on our end really is better communication with the transfer of funds for exchange. We were waiting to be told to transfer funds (as all of the letters from TE said to wait), and only when we got a bit nervous thinking we are due to exchange soon and haven't sent any money over, that my husband rang up and found out that they were waiting for us to send the funds over so we could exchange!

This did lead to a bit of stress on our end, and I do suspect that this happened moreso because we were chain-free so the exchange and completion dates were a bit more flexible. Ultimately though I've heard many worse horror stories of solicitors, so think this isn't too bad!

My wife and I were first time buyers earlier this year. Taylor & Emmet were the most expensive of 3 quotes I sought from Sheffield based solicitors but rest assured, they were worth every single penny. They are proactive, comprehensively thorough & have your best interests in mind every step of the way. Throughout the process they break down the obscene amount of information so that it is understandable & transparent to the layperson. Many thanks to Sally Winter and & her team, we will most definitely be requesting their services for any future sales & purchases.

Phillippa Newbould was excellent. She did the conveyancing for one of our buyers who sold their property with EweMove Sheffield. Knowledgeable and pretty easy to contact for updates etc
