Very poor

Really disappointed with our experience here.
We had to call several times to make the appointment, we should have realised then.
I attended an appointment with a family member. We found the office difficult to locate.
Payment was requested as soon as we entered the building £275 a debit card was provided, but then a decision was made for payment to be made after the appointment. The receptionist who met us initially appeared disheveled and confused about the whole process.
A solicitor arrived with a pen and pad of paper and took some details. There were spelling errors in the details taken. There was no ‘new client form’ to complete.
The solicitor’s phone continuously went off throughout the meeting. Despite them saying they had put it on silent, the ringing was on quietly. So I could hear it ringing the whole time. The solicitor answered a call during the meeting as they 'had to take this call' (despite the fact my family member was paying for this meeting)
Throughout the meeting the solicitor looked at their phone, under the table (I sat next to them so I could see) whilst their new client was explaining their situation.
It was challenging at times to get a straight answer out of the solicitor when they were asked direct questions and conversation did not flow very well.
After the appointment my family member received a call chasing payment, my family member requested an invoice. However the invoice stated £275 + VAT, unfortunately my family member was quite stressed after the appointment and found it quite emotional and they miss paid. Meaning they paid just the £275. They just wanted to know what the total was, If they were just told what they needed to pay that would not have happened. Eventually they received the amount that was due and my family member was able to pay the correct amount.
For a good period of time after the appointment my family was being chased daily via phone by the solicitor about what they think they ‘should’ be doing.
It was not acceptable.
We were recommended this solicitor by Your Sanctuary so we really do feel the whole experience was very poor. My family member is in a particularly vulnerable situation.

We have subsequently found another solicitor who gave 15mins free and then £75 for the next hour. No issues, no fuss. Clear directions to the location and a business card provided at the end and a clear invoice sent via emails. They answered direct questions and we felt reassured during the appointment.
