If you want to end up in prison, then use these guys. They’ll assign you a trainee with no experience with complex cases. Absolutely no sympathy at all for an autistic, vulnerable young adult who ended up incarcerated and has now been hospitalised from prison attacks. Weren’t responsive to emails, concerns and questions during a worrying trial. As much empathy as a stone.

We were informed by McCormicks that the young lad wasn’t eligible for an appeal. However we’ve since found this to be incorrect information and we are lodging an appeal. I’m baffled … scratching my head about that. Since then, McCormicks have not released the information required for the appeal form. It’s been roughly 5 months since the request and nothing, and so we’ve included a third party (possibly a fourth also) to obtain this important information. What’s going on here? Seems really strange.

My dealings with McCormicks, specifically David Birks, could not have been a more positive experience. His frankness, professionalism and determination to get the correct outcome totally dissolved the frustration I was experiencing out of the process.

I have dealt with Peter Minnikin in my criminal case. He was very unsympathetic with situation. His attitude was very challenging and rarely made himself available to calmly explain the procedures to me. When my case was finally over, he tried to claim more money from Legal Aid and the fees were contested. After the final bill he sent, Legal Aid needed a letter from him to state that he would not claim more money against my case which he never sent. When I became aware of this I contacted and informed him they were waiting on a letter or email from him. After several requests he guaranteed me he would send it but he never has. I have been waiting for several thousands (5kish) to be returned to me which would be nice before Xmas, and have to wait for at least 5 months before Legal Aid can trigger the refund due to him not sending an email. The entire case was dealt with poorly and I would never used him again, particularly for a criminal case which is supposed to be his specialty. Extremely unhappy customer.
