After 2 failed purchase attempts, we finally completed on our first home in January - all thanks to Faith & Katie at Maitland Walker. We never had to wait more than a day for a response, they were proactive, concise & detailed with information, chasing the sellers without prompting, helped us decide when to pull out of the other houses (both times issues on the seller’s & property side) and moved us from offer to completion on our new home in 3 months - even with Christmas & New Years in between.
After hearing so many horror stories about solicitors & home buying, we couldn’t have been any happier than having Faith on our side!

We have used Maitland Walker (Specifically Alex) for a number of years over 2x property sales. He has been absolutely fantastic, so much so we came back to him for our most recent property sale / purchase. We couldn’t be happier with the service he has given us and has truly made the process of selling and buying as stress free as possible. Extremely disappointing service and certainly not the ‘exceptionally high quality’ promised on their website. I will not be using them again.

Some examples of my experiences, from a firm of solicitors who describe themselves as ‘Experts in their field’:

Failure to appoint one of the executors, as they apparently couldn’t understand the will they had themselves previously drawn up only 5 years earlier
Errors in accounting that showed the 50% beneficiaries would be receiving different amounts
Incorrect determination of interest owed on a cash legacy, due to failure to count days accurately
Incorrect names and dates recorded on official documents
Taking weeks to respond to phone calls and email correspondence
Being shouted at on the phone, regularly talked over and my questions repeatedly misunderstood or not answered
Sharing confidential emails, which inflamed tense family dynamics and generated more legal expense.

There were many more examples, that require too much detail to list here.

Julian Maitland Walker offered a financial goodwill gesture in response to my formal complaint, which was appreciated. However, the additional distress the whole experience brought, in the context of the bereavement of both my parents, cannot be compensated.

In summary; the apparent incompetence, inattention to detail and lack of professionalism was shocking.

Sarah Smale recently represented us with our sale and purchase and was absolutely brilliant. Diligent, efficient and an excellent communicator. We would thoroughly recommend her to anyone.
