T.G. Collins Solicitors were excellent as the conveyancers, in the sale of my apartment. I cannot recommend Calum highly enough, as he ensured the sale completed in ~3 months, despite a large number of enquiries that were received from the other side.

My partner sold his property recently and Calum acted in the sale. There were a couple of hiccups that cropped up but these were all dealt with and sorted. Calum was always available on the phone and, if not, returned calls quickly. Would recommend TG Collins and thanks, Calum, for pushing the sale through to completion.

I used to work as a mortgage adviser and have dealt with many conveyancers over the years and it was very difficult to remember a good one! I decided in the end to choose these guys based on cost and reviews and was glad I did. My sale was a bit complex and the buyer's solicitor was useless but Mafruha, Mindi and Calum worked efficiently to get it over the line.

My mum and I used TG Collins after reading all their positive reviews but unfortunately this was not our experience. We instructed them to help the execution of the will and probate of my grandad who passed away.

Their fees ended up being double what we were originally quoted. After the first fees, they then said they had underestimated and there was more paperwork costing a second hidden payment of £1400 doubling the price to apparently complete extra tax forms. After this, a third email asking for more money came. We felt like they were not upfront about the full scope of fees required and their emails were purposely salesy.

Excerpt from the third payment request email from them asking for another set of fees not included in the original quote: "Our firm and many others usually provide this service at an industry standard of 2% to 3% which would have come to approximately £14,000 + VAT but we are willing to provide this service at an hourly rate due to the simplicity of the estate. We estimate that the administration and distribution will require 5–7 hours at our Principal Solicitor, Thushara Collins’, rate of £300 + VAT per hour."

They kept saying the estate was straightforward and simple. If so, why did the fees continue to go up more and more?

When we declined this final fee and said we would do it ourselves, they refused to send the grant of probate that we would require to do it ourselves! Essentially blackmailing us.

Even more upsetting, we had agreed for the solicitor to also manage the conveyancing for the sale of my granddad's home.

This all felt like sales tactics and hidden costs at a time when we were devastated my the loss of our grandad and dad, and just wanting to sort things out.
