My experience with Abiola, Dominic and Shahrzad has been both insightful and responsive from the outset. My first engagement with the team was in relation to a grievance. Shahrzad carefully reviewed the situation and advised that, based on the information available, the organisation had followed the required process and it would not be proportionate to pursue the matter further. However, she also provided practical guidance on what to monitor and document should any commitments not be honoured.

A few months later, I was made redundant in circumstances where it appeared that my role continued to exist. We are now in the process of appealing. Again, on the surface, the organisation seems to have followed the correct procedure, but there remain important questions that need to be asked.

What I value most about Shahrzad is her honesty and realism. She is clear about what can realistically be achieved and recognises that, at times, success comes down to asking the right questions at the right moment — and then being patient. I do not yet know what the outcome will be, but I trust her judgement completely, whether that means pursuing even the smallest point of challenge or advising that it is best to let something go.

Fingers crossed there is something to take forward. Too often, despite the protections in place for employees, employers can still find ways to exit individuals if they choose to. For me, that is particularly difficult to accept given the level at which I operate and the value I know I bring.
