I went in to enquire about having witnesses to sign my unenrolled deed poll. It's a simple document.

The woman (who refused to give her name) began inventing reasons why it wasn't valid in an attempt to scam me into paying for their deed poll. She claimed I needed a clause from 1835 which is a patent lie. She claimed it wasn't valid without a postcode. There was one part which actually wasn't valid, I said can I remove it and come back to get it witnessed when other people are in the office? I said I'm happy to pay a small fee which is standard practice. She said no, I have to get the whole document done professionally which is a lie.

I understand if witnessing documents such as this is against company policy. But to make up a lot of lies to trick me into paying is reprehensible. I told her I knew she was lying and she suddenly looked very scared.

Additionally, she asked me a lot of irrelevant personal and intrusive questions about my situation. She kept addressing me by my first name as an attempt to patronise me which I found disrespectful. So I asked for her name and she refused to give it.

0/10 experience. Do not use this company unless you have done your legal research because they will try to milk you for every penny. I'm sure if I had gone in there uninformed, she would have tricked me into paying for an enrolled deed poll, which costs upwards of £50. Where as all I needed was witnesses to an unenrolled deed poll, for which the going rate is around £5!
